We are Inviting Nominations/Self-Nominations for the Coalition Board of Directors

By Bridgette Hamstead

I’m inviting nominations (including self-nominations) for the Board of Directors of the Neurodiversity Coalition of America (NCA). This is a call to lead, collaborate, and help build the next era of our movement.

The NCA is a neurodivergent-led national coalition that exists to align and amplify the work of neurodivergent-led organizations across the U.S. Our goal is to create shared infrastructure for NeuroJustice, shaping national priorities around education, employment, housing, healthcare, institutionalization, aging, and more. We are focused on systems change led by lived experience, and we work from a disability justice and liberation framework. We believe that neurodivergent people should be centered in advocacy.

The Board of Directors plays a critical role in this work. Board members meet quarterly (virtually) to guide the Coalition’s strategy, vote on shared priorities, and oversee projects aligned with our annual National Neurodiversity Justice Agenda, a publicly shared roadmap for where the movement is heading next.

Each year, board members gather at a national convening to craft the new agenda, and throughout the year, they may choose to serve on committees that correspond to key initiatives, from policy advocacy and workforce development to education reform and cultural visibility. This is a volunteer role and a collaborative space for professionals, organizers, educators, founders, academics, and other leaders who care deeply about shaping the future of this movement.

We are seeking a total of 6 board members and welcome nominations from autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexic, sensory divergent, and otherwise neurodivergent professionals, especially those who are also queer, trans, BIPOC, disabled, low-income, or otherwise multiply marginalized. We are looking for people who bring lived experience and a strong skill set in areas like curriculum development, business, community organizing, policy, research, consulting, nonprofit development, media, communications, event leadership, strategy, tech, and more.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please send an email to me at bridgette@fishinatreeglobal.org. Include the following: Nominee’s name, contact information, and professional role(s); A short biography highlighting relevant experience and expertise; A brief statement of interest;
An outline of the skills or areas where you/they would like to contribute (see list above).

All nominations will be reviewed by our leadership team, and selected nominees will be invited for a follow-up conversation. We are especially excited to connect with people whose professional work is already shaping culture and systems.

The NCA is governed by neurodivergent leaders, not institutions. We’re building something real, something built to last. If you’re ready to work on advocacy, activism, and coordinated systems change on the national stage, or you already are, we’d love to work with you.

See previous blog post for more information on the neurodiversity Coalition of America.

Deadline for applications is October 11, 2025.
